It’s #InternationalCoffeeMonth! Why should you celebrate? By buying fair trade coffee, you are helping give coffee farmers the income they deserve. Want to give even more? Take the pledge here for supporting coffee farmers. Ellicott City and Columbia have a ton of great coffee shops with a variety of food and different selections of coffee. Now that it’s getting cooler, let’s explore some of the top places around Howard County to get a good cup of joe.

Old Mill Cafe

If you live in Rockburn Estates, we encourage you to visit this staple in Old Ellicott City. Their mission is to bring the community closer together through coffee. Passionate about the recent floods, they help tell the story of how Ellicott City came out strong in the end. Try their classic breakfast and lunch menu items like avocado toast and BLTs. You’ll always be able to find fresh pastries in their display cases. Old Mill features great coffee and offers different flavors of the day. Take a moment and sip on a seasonal drink on their spacious outdoor patio.

Little Market Cafe

Also near Rockburn Estates, this coffee shop is located right off of Main Street in Ellicott City. If you like delicious sandwiches, unique coffee, and awesome music then this is the place for you. Try some of their scrumptious sandwiches named after some well known local landmarks like the 9 Mile Circle. Little Market Cafe also offers seasonal coffee featuring some unexpected combinations like lavender, peach, and vanilla. In the Spring and Summer take your lunch outside and listen to some jams with local bands to brighten your weekend. If you are vegan, no problem. They have a separate vegan menu and nut milks for your coffee.

Mad City Coffee

This coffee shop is a hidden gem in the heart of Columbia near our Pine Acres community. Known for their bold coffee, they offer it by the bag to take home with you. It’s a perfect place to bring your coworkers for a quick bite to eat or to relax and read a book while sipping on some great coffee. They even have live music on certain nights. If you aren’t a coffee drinker, try some of their chai tea lattes. It’s a great alternative!

Sidamo Coffee and Tea

Get coffee “Served with Love” at this shop near Pine Acres. They only serve organic tea and coffee that’s roasted daily and in house. Try some of their sandwiches to snack on while you enjoy your cup of coffee. They even do an authentic Ethiopian Tea Ceremony. Held every Sunday at 2pm, you can witness an employee roasting beans, grinding beans, and brew the coffee in a traditional pot. You can even sample some.
