Thanksgiving Hacks

Thanksgiving is almost here. We know that, for some, Thanksgiving can be very stressful. With family coming in, hours and hours of cooking and decorating your house can take a lot of time and take the joy out of the holiday. We’re showing you our Thanksgiving hacks so you can spend quality time with your family and forget the hassle of being a hostess.

Use a thermos to keep gravy warm

Free up your stove without having to sacrifice warm gravy for the dinner table. Make your gravy first thing, and then keep it in a thermos to keep it warm. Once the festivities start, just pour the gravy into your favorite gravy boat.

Keep mashed potatoes warm in a slow cooker

No one likes cold mashed potatoes on their Thanksgiving plate. Save the stress and use your slow cooker as a warmer. It will keep it warm way past the time where people get seconds.

Skip the fridge for drinks

During Thanksgiving, fridge space is one of the most important things. Don’t crowd the fridge with drinks for your guests. Instead, put a cooler outside of the kitchen. It will keep the fridge open and keep people out of the kitchen so you have room to cook and get the party started!

Use a checklist

We know this may seem simple but it’s definitely worth it. By keeping a checklist with you, it will help you from being disorganized and keeping you on track. The last thing you need is to discover you forgot to set the table or put on the timer when guests are starting to arrive.

Protect a wooden table

Let’s face it, Thanksgiving dinner can get pretty messy. Sauces drip everywhere, occasional spills of red wine, drips of gravy from the gravy. Protect your table by putting newspaper under the tablecloth for an extra layer of protection.

Prep your veggies ahead of time

No one likes to waste their time on Thanksgiving morning with prepping veggies for hours.
Prep your veggies a couple of days in advance and keep in the fridge. It will save the headache and you can spend the morning watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with your family.

Use pumpkins and candles for your table centerpiece

Don’t go overboard with the decorations this year. Just use this simple pumpkin and candle combo for a minimalist approach. This way you can see your guests on the other side of the table without being blocked by a tall vase of flowers or a cornucopia. Besides, you want as much food on the table as possible.
